Building Stronger Families and Schools

Founding member Dr. Gayl Crump Swaby partners with CPLAN as a mental health expert as a facilitator for Reshaping Community Wellness, a program designed to empower parents, caregivers, school staff, and community members with practical tools for mental health and emotional well-being.

Through her work with CPLAN, Dr. Crump Swaby collaborates closely with schools and all school community members (including students, parents/caregivers, and school staff) working in cohorts to strengthen the culture and climate of each school. She leads interactive sessions focused on:

  • Transforming conflicts into healthy, productive conversations

  • Developing new perspectives on mental wellness and self-care

  • Recognizing and breaking negative generational patterns rooted in childhood experiences

  • Strengthening mental health support within families, schools, and communities

  • Identifying mental health needs and connecting to appropriate resources for children and youth

By engaging entire school communities, Dr. Crump Swaby helps build environments that are supportive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. Her holistic approach ensures participants gain practical skills to foster emotional balance, healthy relationships, and resilience both at home and in school settings.
